Bike Lodi and Lodi Parks Recreation & Cultural Services Department are joining forces to bring back the Park to Park Ride! This FREE bike ride will kick off at 9:00 a.m. at Lodi Lake Park and visit 13 different parks over a 13-mile bike ride. At each location, cyclists are encouraged to have their provided "Park Passport" stamped. Participants who have complete passports can enter into the raffle. A winner will be drawn at Lodi Lake Park at 11: 30 a.m. You do not have to be present to win. Participants will also be given a "fun bag" for having ridden their bikes. Please note: this ride follows a route along city streets, so participants are recommended to be ages 10 and up. Riders MUST wear helmets and are advised to bring water. Sponsored by the California Department of Public Health (CDPH), bike-themed speciality license plates will soon be an option and, better yet, it funds programs to promote bicycle safety, education, and advocacy! CalBike is working with CDPH to choose the right image. Cycle California magazine is hosting the contest to help choose the image. Vote for your favorite at cyclecalifornia.com.
Thank you to everyone who contributed to making May a great Bike Month. We started strong at the Lodi City Council Meeting announcing our three Bike Friendly Business Award recipients (Flight Lounge Woodbridge, Kirsten Company and LangeTwins Family Winery and Vineyard) and accepting the Mayor's proclamation. We kicked off the bike valet season at the Downtown Street Faire, Farmers Market, and Zinfest. We then finished on a high note with close to 50 people attending our Bike to Work Day. Huge "thank you's" to Mary Pell, Anita Herman, Kandy Vaccarezza, Julia Tyack from Lodi Public Works and Kari McNickle from Dibs/SJBC. Your hard work paid off and the morning was a success.
